lyrics

I keep thinking I’m growing old
But too few years and souvenirs halt my thoughts so

These rolling plains hum the same dull song
But chasing trains is all the same as moving right along

I keep wondering, where’d we go
I wish I knew I was there before time hurried through

I’ve been here before
And time tells a while more
But that old lamppost still holds a flicker without fail

Light your cigarette
Smoke fills your silhouette
All worn out, but those words still ring the same

I’m trying to fit the pieces with the edges sinking in
I know what runs through my blood, but don’t it run through everyone

The words aren’t coming now, the gears are all locked up
Everyday I see the same unfamiliar faces scoff

I’ve been told, that angst is hollow
But that requisition lies beneath your shadow

I’ve been here before
And those ticking hands seem to move unsure
While that roaring wind, she’s moving swiftly ‘cross the bend

And while you have your after dinner smoke
I’m losing traction ’n wind is slipping through my coat

And I know that mind can’t help but run, but that won’t change the end outcome
I’m hearing words too few and far between

So wait a moment I’ll take the cheap little desk and old antique
But there’s just no telling if that holds right
